Is Coloured Acrylic right for my project?
Coloured Cast Acrylic is an excellent choice where colour, surface finish, rigidity and fabrication versatility are important.
It is commonly used for signage, point-of-sale displays, shopfitting, decorative panels, event displays, laser-cut lettering, creative projects and fabricated components.
If transparency and maximum optical clarity are required instead, Clear Cast Acrylic may be the better choice.

Need custom cut-to-size Coloured Acrylic?
Warlond Plastics can provide custom cut-to-size Coloured Acrylic for suitable commercial, industrial, signage and creative projects.
Tell us the required colour, thickness, finished dimensions and quantity and we can investigate material availability and provide a quote.
Depending on the project, Acrylic can be processed using our panel saw, CNC router or CNC laser.
Can Coloured Acrylic be laser cut?
Yes. Cast Acrylic is very well suited to CNC laser cutting for many applications.
Laser cutting is particularly useful for lettering, logos, profiles, shapes, decorative components and signage.
The suitability and finished edge can vary with colour, finish, thickness and geometry, so custom work should be assessed before production.
CNC routing and machining Coloured Acrylic
Coloured Cast Acrylic can also be CNC routed and machined.
Depending on the project, CNC routing can produce profiles, holes, slots, pockets, countersinks, bevels and other machined features.
Sharp tooling, suitable feeds and secure workholding help control heat and improve the finished result.
Can Coloured Acrylic be heated and formed?
Yes. Cast Acrylic is a thermoplastic and can be heated, line bent and thermoformed using suitable controlled heating techniques.
Thickness, colour, bend radius, heating temperature and heating uniformity can all influence the finished result.
For demanding forming applications, test the intended process before full production.
Technical properties
Typical technical properties for the Coloured Cast Acrylic material supplied by Warlond Plastics include:
| Material | Cast PMMA Acrylic |
|---|---|
| Relative density | 1.19 g/cm³ |
| 3mm sheet weight | Approximately 3.57 kg/m² |
| Gauge tolerance | ±0.4mm |
| Tensile strength | 70 MPa |
| Flexural strength | 116 MPa |
| Typical service temperature | Up to approximately 80°C |
| Vicat softening temperature | >110°C |
These are typical material properties and should not be treated as finished-part design limits. Suitability depends on the colour, thickness, loading, fabrication method and service conditions.
Light transmission varies significantly between colours and finishes, so the Clear Acrylic light-transmission figure should not be applied to coloured sheets.
How should Coloured Acrylic be cleaned?
For routine cleaning, use warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
Avoid abrasive pads and aggressive cleaners that may scratch or damage the Acrylic surface.
Check chemical compatibility before using specialised cleaning products.
What adhesive can I use with Coloured Acrylic?
Coloured Cast Acrylic can be bonded using suitable Acrylic cement systems. Warlond Plastics stocks SCIGRIP WELD-ON 3 and WELD-ON 16 for Acrylic fabrication applications.
Joint fit, sheet colour, fabrication stress, adhesive quantity and the desired finished appearance should all be considered when bonding Acrylic.
For visible or decorative joints, test the proposed bonding method on an offcut first, as adhesive application and joint preparation can affect the finished appearance.
Always follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions and confirm suitability for the particular application before use.
