Product Information

Everything you need to choose with confidence.

Is Clear Polycarbonate Sheet right for my application?

Clear Polycarbonate is an excellent choice where you need a transparent sheet with very high impact resistance, low weight and outdoor UV protection.

It is particularly useful for machine guards, protective glazing, equipment windows, shields, outdoor enclosures, roofing and other applications where resistance to breakage is important.

If optical appearance, scratch resistance and polished edges are the main priorities, Clear Acrylic may be the better material.

What does UV2 Polycarbonate mean?

UV2 means the Polycarbonate Sheet has UV protection on both sides.

The supplied solid Polycarbonate sheet is designed for suitable internal and external applications, and either face can be exposed during installation.

Double-sided UV protection helps reduce degradation caused by prolonged sunlight exposure compared with non-UV-protected Polycarbonate grades.

Key properties and benefits
  • Very high impact resistance for protective glazing and guarding.
  • UV2 protection on both faces.
  • Excellent clarity where visibility is required.
  • Lightweight compared with glass.
  • Suitable for internal and external applications when correctly selected and installed.
  • Cold formable into suitable gentle curves.
  • Heat formable using controlled fabrication techniques.
  • Machinable by cutting, drilling and routing.
Operating temperature range

The supplied solid Polycarbonate has a typical service temperature range of approximately −40°C to +120°C.

Actual suitability depends on sheet thickness, load, installation method, exposure duration and the specific operating conditions.

For applications approaching the upper or lower temperature limits, contact Warlond Plastics before ordering so the application can be considered.

Custom cut-to-size Polycarbonate Sheet

Warlond Plastics can provide custom cut-to-size Clear Polycarbonate Sheet for suitable projects.

Send us the required thickness, finished dimensions and quantity and we can quote the material and cutting.

Our sheet cutting capabilities include panel-saw cutting and CNC routing for suitable Polycarbonate projects.

Can Polycarbonate be cold bent or curved?

Yes. Polycarbonate can be cold curved into suitable gentle-radius shapes without heating.

This can be useful for curved guards, protective screens, covers, wind barriers and other applications requiring a gradual curve.

The allowable radius depends on sheet thickness and the technical requirements of the supplied grade. Tight cold bends should not be forced.

For critical curved installations, contact Warlond Plastics before ordering.

Can Clear Polycarbonate Sheet be heat bent or formed?

Yes. Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic and can be formed using controlled heating techniques.

Heat forming is useful where a tighter bend or more complex shape is required than can be achieved through gentle cold curving.

Sheet thickness, bend radius, heating method and moisture condition can influence the finished result.

Polycarbonate vs Acrylic — which should I choose?
Choose Polycarbonate Better where very high impact resistance, protective glazing, outdoor UV2 protection and cold-forming ability are priorities.
Choose Acrylic → Better where optical appearance, surface hardness, polished edges, signage or display quality are more important.
Cutting, drilling and machining Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate can be cut, drilled and routed using suitable tools and fabrication techniques.

Sharp tools, appropriate feed rates and good support help reduce heat build-up and improve edge quality.

When using mechanical fasteners, allow appropriate clearance for thermal movement and avoid overtightening against the sheet.

Can Polycarbonate Sheet be glued?

Polycarbonate can be bonded using compatible adhesive systems, but care is required because some solvents can cause stress cracking or surface damage.

For suitable Polycarbonate fabrication projects, SCIGRIP WELD-ON 16 is one bonding option available from Warlond Plastics.

Suitability depends on sheet condition, fabrication stress, joint design, adhesive quantity and service conditions. Test the bonding method where appearance or structural performance is critical.

WELD-ON 3 should not be treated as the equivalent option for Polycarbonate. It is primarily intended for close-fitting acrylic-to-acrylic joints.

Prefer Grey Tint or Opal Polycarbonate?

If Clear is not the right appearance for your project, we also stock Grey Tint UV2 and Opal UV2 Polycarbonate Sheets.

Grey Tint: 2440 × 1220mm standard sheets, with 2440 × 1830mm sheets available by enquiry in 3mm, 4.5mm and 6mm.

Opal: available in 2440 × 1220mm full sheets only.
