Heavy-duty engineering plastic for larger machined, wear and load-bearing components.
Natural Cast Nylon Rod has a distinctive ivory colour and combines good mechanical strength, toughness, wear resistance and useful sliding properties. Its larger diameter range makes it particularly suitable for machining bushes, rollers, pulleys, gears, sleeves, wear components and other substantial engineering parts.

Is Natural Cast Nylon Rod right for my application?
Natural Cast Nylon is a strong choice for larger machined components that require toughness, mechanical strength and wear resistance.
It is commonly considered for substantial bushes, rollers, pulleys, gears, wear components, sleeves and other industrial parts where a larger starting diameter is required.
Nylon absorbs moisture, so where a component requires very close dimensional tolerances in wet or humid environments, this should be considered during material selection and machining.
Key properties and benefits
- Good mechanical strength for larger engineering and load-bearing components.
- Excellent wear resistance for suitable moving and sliding applications.
- Good toughness where components may experience shock or mechanical loading.
- Useful sliding properties for bushes, rollers, guides and similar components.
- Mechanical damping can help reduce transmitted vibration and noise.
- Machinable using conventional turning, milling, drilling and boring equipment.
- Large stock diameters provide useful machining allowance for substantial finished parts.
Common applications
Natural Cast Nylon Rod is commonly machined into:
- Bushes and bushings
- Sleeve bearings
- Large rollers
- Guide rollers
- Pulleys
- Gears
- Wear pads and wear components
- Sleeves
- Spacers
- Guides
- General industrial machined components
Available diameters and rod length
Our standard stocked Natural Cast Nylon Rod range is:
| Colour | Natural / Ivory |
|---|---|
| Stocked diameters | 40mm through to 100mm |
| Rod length | 1000mm only |
Select your required stocked diameter using the product options above to view current pricing and availability.
Rod is supplied as engineering machining stock. Where a precise finished diameter is required, allow appropriate machining allowance.
Need a Cast Nylon diameter larger than 100mm?
Yes. Larger Natural Cast Nylon diameters may be available by special order.
Depending on your requirement, larger rods can be specifically imported or added to one of our scheduled overseas shipments.
Because these sizes are not part of our normal stocked 40–100mm range, lead time and availability will depend on the diameter, quantity and import schedule.
Send us the required diameter, quantity and application details and we can investigate supply options.
Cast Nylon vs Extruded Nylon — which should I choose?
Both are Nylon engineering plastics, but the manufacturing method and available stock sizes make them useful for different types of components.
Does Cast Nylon absorb moisture?
Yes. Nylon is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the surrounding environment.
Moisture absorption can cause dimensional change and can influence some mechanical properties.
This is particularly important for large components with close finished tolerances, especially where the part operates in wet or humid conditions.
Where low moisture absorption and very strong dimensional stability are the main priorities, Acetal may be worth considering instead.
Machining Cast Nylon Rod
Cast Nylon can be turned, milled, drilled and bored using conventional machining equipment.
Sharp tooling, controlled feed rates and good chip clearance help reduce heat build-up and improve surface finish.
Larger Nylon components may contain machining stresses and can move as material is removed. Where close tolerances are required, machining strategy and allowance for dimensional movement should be considered.
Moisture and temperature conditions should also be considered where finished dimensions are critical.
Food-contact and compliance documentation
Supporting documentation is available for the Natural Nylon base material for applications where food-contact or regulatory information is required.
The supporting documentation includes information relating to FDA 21 CFR 177.1500 and applicable EU food-contact requirements for the Nylon 6 base material.
Base-material compliance does not automatically mean every finished machined component is approved for every food-contact application.
Suitability depends on the intended use, operating environment, finished-part preparation and the regulatory requirements that apply to the final article.
If food-contact documentation is required for your application, contact Warlond Plastics before ordering so the available supporting information can be reviewed.
RoHS documentation
Supporting documentation for the Natural Nylon material also includes information relating to EU RoHS restricted substances.
If RoHS documentation is important to your purchasing, manufacturing or compliance requirements, contact Warlond Plastics before ordering so the available supporting information can be reviewed.
Cast Nylon vs Acetal and HDPE — which should I choose?
The best engineering plastic depends on the mechanical, dimensional and environmental requirements of the finished part.
Oils, fuels and chemical resistance
Cast Nylon offers useful resistance to many oils, greases and fuels, which makes it suitable for many mechanical and industrial environments.
Chemical resistance should still be checked for the specific chemical, concentration, operating temperature and exposure duration.
If chemical exposure is important to your application, contact Warlond Plastics before ordering.
